Karen Igho: Nigeria’ BBA Amplified Representative

karen igho 1

Original article: http://fabmimi.blogspot.com/2011/05/unveiling-karen-igho-bba-amplified.html

Many might not have heard about her before now, but some have, and what thing everyone that knows her, have to say about one of Nigeria's representatives at the new Big Brother Amplified reality TV series is that she is very daring

Prior to her emergence as one of those to compete for the many thousands of dollars as an housemate in the Big Brother house, she was said to have been a model in the UK, where she lived for several years, the 27 years old is a graduate of theater arts with a degree from Southwark College,Bermondsey,London. She was also one of those that participated at the 2008 edition of the Next Movie Star, but before then in 2007, precisely on November 13,2007 she was said to have paid about Five thousand two hundred and fifty (5,250) pounds to surgically enhance her now very famous boobs from size 32bb to a whopping 36dd size, apart from this enhancement the highly confident miss Igho is said to have about 10 strategically placed body arts(tattoos) & piercings all over her body.

Karen is said to be from Delta state, though she grew up in Jos,she is 5''3 in height, with a waist size of 26.5 and hips size of 34, growing up, she attended an all girls Federal government secondary school in Jos,Plateau state, before she later left for the UK.

She's believed to be one of the housemates that would make the house exciting and already she's shown to all that she's not shy at all, when she stripped to her barely there bikini, to have a dip with the others inside the Jacuzzi.

The very popular reality series is in its 6th season, and the idea is to have have housemates from about 14 countries in Africa, who prior to now didn't know each other and would live in an isolated house, while trying to avoid eviction, all this would go on for 91 days and their activities would be under scrutiny 24 hours of everyday, at the end of it all, the last man/woman standing would cart home the prize money of $200,000.

This is hoping that Nigeria would be 3rd time lucky by winning the prize money and here is wishing Miss Igho success, though its going to be a bit hard with 26 housemates competing for the same thing

Big Brother Amplified: Farewell, Lotus!

By: SELMA SHIPANGA – THE NAMIBIAN

Farewell Lotus.

LotusAnd so long the red panga. Oh cry the beloved Tails house.

In an unceremonious turn of events on Friday, Tanzania’s Lotus was disqualified from Big Brother Amplified. As much as it was a SLAP in the face for some Namibians that our Jossy Joss was the first housemate to be evicted from BBA Amplified, I’m sure it’s an even bigger SLAP for Tanzania, and all Lotus enthusiasts to learn that their Lotus was disqualified so soon in the game.

And the man at the centre of this mess is none other than resident drama queen Luclay – oh, and of course his South African currency. If Luclay is not hurling insults at Biggie, then he’s busy directing those insults at his housemates. This boy really needs to be SLAPPED!

Slap Me!
Just last week, Lotus asked Big Brother to supply some condoms for the house. Surely this was a sign of a woman getting comfortable with her set-up. As you may have guessed, she and Ethiopian Danny were starting to get cosy!
Fast forward to Friday and Lotus was packing her bags and bidding the BBA experience goodbye.

I will say it again, “Luclay needs to be SLAPPED!”
Anyhow, while most of us were wishing for time to fly on Friday so that the weekend could start already, developments in the BBA Tails house were going in the opposite direction. It all started with the Head of House Task quiz testing housemates on their knowledge of world currencies. Housemates had to fill in as many currencies of the world as they knew.On this list was South Africa, which Lotus in all her red panga glory, forgot to fill in.

Realising her mistake, Lotus informed her mature and well behaved housemates of her error, an error which drama queen Luclay unfortunately deemed unforgivable. Ohhhh puhleeeeeze!

As if that’s not enough, he accused Lotus of not respecting her host country. The more Lotus tried to reason, the more Luclay would have none of it and just continued to scratch Lotus where it wasn’t itching. And there was no stopping Luclay, not even after Lotus shed a few tears and urged him to ‘PLEASE STOP’.

Lotus finally lost her cool and planted a slap on Luclay’s face, which at least finally shut the boy up. Unfortunately, though, it led to Biggy’s decision to disqualify Lotus.
In terms of the BBA rules and regulations, physical violence of any kind is prohibited and the use of it will result in disqualification. For his part in the altercation, Luclay walks away with the light sentence of washing dishes and cleaning the house for the duration of his stay.

If that is what they call justice, then my journalism qualifications over-qualify me for the role of judge!

Kim could not hold back her tears as she watched Lotus pack her bags with help fellow housemates Nick, Danny, Karen and Mumba.

To add salt to injury, Luclay had the audacity to shed tears as Lotus left. Whether they were tears of remorse or joy I cannot tell but this is an exercise Luclay is accustomed to indulging in after every fight he’s involved in, so I’m not surprised. Did I mention that the boy is emotionally unstable? Not only can he not control his outbursts, it seems he finds it difficult to control his tears. This is the umpteenth time he’s cried in the house.

Christmas In May
Though Christmas only comes in December, in the real world anyway, in Biggie’s world, Christmas can come in May. That was the case on Saturday when the Tails house was treated to a ‘White Christmas in Africa Party’. Complete with white foam and housemates dressed in Christmas outfits to live up to its name, Tails housemates partied well into the night.

Now all BBA parties are generally associated with two things – alcohol and good music – this party was no different. While the alcohol flowed freely, the housemates jived to the beats of Namibia’s very own DJ Kaycee from Radio 99FM.

As things progressed well into the night, some housemates, namely Karen, Nkuli and Ernest, decided the only way to be comfortable was to be dressed as minimally as possible – I’m talking about panties, bras and boxers. Yet another development was Miss P who, at the end of the night, ending up snuggling with Alex. Don’t know if the duvets moved, or if the earth shook … Or if maybe it was Judgement Day for one or the both of them!! Perhaps as we come to terms with Lotus’s departure, we could be looking forward to developments between Miss P and Alex. I guess only time will tell!

For the record, Kenya’s Nic is Head of House in Tails this coming week, and Zimbabwean model Vimbai in the Heads house. As it is currently, the fates of Luclay, Mumba, Kim and Nkuli are unclear as one of them will be going home tonight. By the time you read this, one of them will have been BBA history.
Keep watching …

Amplified Biggie!

NEW ERA – NAMIBIA

BY: VIMBAI KARUMAZONDO

WINDHOEK – The sixth season of Africa’s biggest reality show, Big Brother Africa, kicked off last Sunday with a bang, in true Big Brother fashion and officially starting the 91-day countdown to finding this year’s US$200 000 winner.

Clearly sticking to its amplified theme, the house is brighter, bolder and bigger not to mention louder – thanks to its 26 new residents, most of who are well known personalities, TV presenters, Radio DJs, models and a few unknowns, just to name a few from 14 countries.

Sunday night’s fanfare was full of dancing and cheering while Presenter IK gave a sneak peek of the revamped house and international artist Busta Rhymes delivered an unforgettable performance with his hits ‘Break Ya Neck’ and ‘Look at Me Now’.

After all the formalities came the introduction of the housemates. IK rolled them onto the stage one by one … yes all 26 of them.

Representing Namibia this year is none other than recording artist and marketing manager, Jossy Joss, and admin clerk, Bernadina, who both seem to have settled well in the amplified mix. Can’t wait to see what they get up to in the coming weeks.
Big Brother Amplified fans had a sneak peek at 14 housemates on the website earlier in the week – but IK kept the surprises rolling by bringing out an additional 12 housemates!

Professional model Vimbai (Zimbabwe) was the first housemate to be introduced, followed by public relations consultant Ernest (Uganda); singer and student Hanni (Ethiopia); radio DJ Mumba (Zambia); journalism and film graduate Peo – Miss P (Botswana) and professional hairdresser Michael (Mozambique).

Then came radio presenter Vina (Nigeria); TV presenter Lotus (Tanzania); TV producer Nic (Kenya); TV presenter Weza (Angola); actor and acting coach Luclay (South Africa); musician and artist Sharon (Uganda); purchaser Felica (Malawi); professional rapper Zeus (Botswana) and beautician Kim (Zambia). Next on the stage were actress Millicent (Kenya); TV intern Nkuli (South Africa); nightclub owner Confidence (Ghana); and TV presenter Bhoke (Tanzania). Rounding off the amplified 26 were self-employed Danny (Ethiopia); pilot Wendall (Zimbabwe); model Karen (Nigeria); radio DJ Lomwe (Malawi) and fashion designer Alex (Ghana).

IK first sent half of the housemates into the Big Brother Amplified house. As the first group explored the house, IK sent in the second group. Having seen each other for the first time during the opening show, the housemates wasted no time in getting to know each other properly over a drink or two as they settled into the stylish new house.

Now all viewers have to do is sit back and watch it all unfold for this amplified bunch. Will new friendships be formed? Will tempers flare? Could romance blossom? No matter what – it’s going to be amplified! Housemates have been having numerous bonding sessions, thanks to Biggie’s tasks ranging from arithmetic, sports and mental challenges. However, all this was not without drama, with Nigeria’s super active Karen being at the centre of most of it all ... watch this space.

The housemates seem to have settled well... but don’t be fooled just yet, one can only imagine what will happen next... stay tuned!

With 26 massive personalities – and some serious attitude - in the house, Big Brother Amplified is going to rock!

The winner of Big Brother Amplified will be named on July 31, and the power to award the US$200 000 prize rests in the hands of the viewers.

Still time to enter Big Brother - by Staff Reporter

NEW ERA – NAMIBIA

WINDHOEK - With the February 27 deadline looming and just a week left for wannabe entrants to submit their entries for Big Brother Africa 6, M-Net has made an exciting announcement for all those who have left it too late to enter!

With a vast amount of entries streaming in from across the 14 participating countries, M-Net has confirmed that it will also run open auditions in the different countries – so that those people who did not submit a paper entry still get one last chance to try out for the new season.

“We’re extremely pleased with the response that this year’s call to enter has had,” says M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi.

“Going into a 6th season, we knew that there would be interest but the scale of this interest has been quite phenomenal with over 5 000 entries already received, certainly among the highest number of entries for any edition of Big Brother Africa.
“However, we’re aware that there are always people who leave it too late to enter and then arrive at the audition venues, where our teams are holding phase two audition sessions, to plead for a chance to try out. So this year, in addition to paper entries, we’ll also have open audition days.

“This way, if you submitted a paper entry, your entry has already been evaluated and successful candidates will be called and seen first at audition venues. But those people who didn’t do a paper entry will have one last chance to enter when our selection team is in the participating countries. They simply need to arrive at the audition venue on the relevant days.

“But I would strongly suggest that people opt to submit a written entry. There’s still some time to do this! Your entry definitely gets priority with our selection teams who read through it in detail and are able to spend time working through the information.”
To submit a written entry for the show, log on to www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother and complete your entry form online. Or download an entry form from the website, complete and email it back to bba@endemol.co.za. The deadline for all written entries to be submitted is February 27, 2011 – so don’t delay.

Entry is open to would-be housemates who are 21 years or older, English-speaking, have a valid passport and is a citizen of any one of the 14 participating countries – Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Remember all entrants must be tolerant of views and lifestyle choices other than their own and must have the social flexibility to live in close proximity with others.
Big Brother Africa 6 begins on Sunday May 1 and once more, the dedicated DStv Channel 198 will be providing 24/7 live coverage for the 91-day duration of the series.
